THE PRISONERS

The social action of the Mercedarians in Barcelona, ​​focuses on three directions:

1 Reinsertion floors

1.1 Mercedarioan Home in the Vall d’Hebron gives food and emotional support to people of third grade or who have just got out of prison and need, little by little, to reintegrate into society.

2. Prisons

2.1 The Mercedarians support spiritual, psychological, legal and material prisoners in the different prisons of Barcelona: Youth Penitentiary Center (280 young people), Wad-Ras Penitentiary Center (147 women), and Brians Penitentiary Center (modules for men and women).

3 Legal-social assistance.

Thanks to the work of our social worker, the Foundation attends:

Social attention of 142 former inmates in all those needs that were presented to achieve the final goal.
93 assessment interviews with the possible beneficiary and / or Penitentiary Social Services to collect all the necessary personal, social and therapeutic information.
772 individualized interviews applying the intervention model centered on the tasks.
Reception of 54 former inmates in definitive freedom who did not have economic resources, family, social or territorial ties.
2,099 days of reception in pensions
1,428 full maintenance vouchers and 118 of 1 meal / day
7 referrals in the San Pedro Nolasco Parish and 7 referrals to the laundry for the maintenance of the clothes.
Delivery of 120 batches of food on a biweekly basis to 10 former beneficiaries of the Shelter Service who are living autonomously.
Delivery of 53 batches with personal hygiene products.
They have also had to make financial aid on certain occasions to ensure the success of the intervention:
Of these financial aid, 12 have been in the form of loans, rising to a total of € 174.36, of which they have returned € 117.76. On the other hand, the Financial Aid Service of Cáritas has assumed 7 of the financial aid, which meant a total of € 1,050.00.

Acquisition of the necessary social skills to achieve the objective
